I've undone this universe
Again, and now like the midnight hour
I wait. I wait for a thousand sunrises
To re-dawn and reassemble, leaving
The memory of twilight to settle,
To fall like leaves at the base, at the heart
Of my soul.
Aren't I all you want?
Yesterday is both I day I know well
And a day that I don't understand--a paradox
Existing in the blink of an eye, a look
That peers through a dark space,
And then around a corner, to follow the movement,
To catch a glimpse--
But now there is nothing, and we are
Suspended in time.
I am more than you bargained for.
I've turned the wheel twice,
With one touch too many
At a time where I should've just
Let the moonlight smile pretty,
Instead of my love,
But I didn't restrain it at all,
I couldn't forsake a moment
Just because others were watching,
But then I realized, you were there too.
To call you and I 'us'--that was unexpected.
You travelled too heavy and I travelled too light,
Both blending to grey for a time,
But could it sustain? Can we keep up with stars?
This worlds bends and breaks, and the sun hides
In the rain, like a child seeking, hiding,
Laughing. But none of that matters
Because I've undone this universe again,
And now there's nothing left to do,
There is nothing that I can do,
But wait.
Again, and now like the midnight hour
I wait. I wait for a thousand sunrises
To re-dawn and reassemble, leaving
The memory of twilight to settle,
To fall like leaves at the base, at the heart
Of my soul.
Aren't I all you want?
